Two Men Arrested in Maguindanao del Norte for Illegal Firearms Sale

Two men, known by the aliases “Ismail” and “Daw,” were arrested during a firearms buy-bust operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit (CIDG RFU) BAR on Tuesday morning, October 15, in Barangay Tambo, Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao del Norte.

According to CIDG RFU BAR, the suspects were caught in the act of illegally selling firearms and ammunition to an undercover police officer posing as a buyer.

The two men now face charges for violating Article V, Section 32 of Republic Act 10591, or the Unlawful Sale of Firearms and Ammunition, under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Seized during the operation were a 5.56mm Elisco rifle with serial number 135137, a 30-round magazine for the same caliber, 33 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, a bandolier, and a cellphone allegedly used by the suspects for their illegal transactions.

The inventory of evidence was witnessed by Yusoph Kasan, the barangay captain of Tambo, Sultan Mastura. The CIDG RFU BAR is preparing the necessary charges against the suspects.
