Rep. Paolo Duterte Undergoes Second Drug Test Amid Calls for Transparency in 2025 Elections

Davao City Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte once again underwent a hair follicle drug test on Wednesday, October 23, following his commitment to transparency and integrity ahead of the 2025 elections. The drug test was conducted in the presence of members of the media and was broadcast live on his official Facebook account.

This action comes as a response to a challenge made by his sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, who earlier called on all “young guns” and congressional candidates to submit themselves to televised neuropsychiatric exams and hair follicle drug tests. The vice president’s challenge is part of her advocacy for clean governance and accountability among those vying for public office in the upcoming elections.

This is the second time Rep. Duterte has undergone such a test, following a similar examination in August. The results of the previous test were shared with the media yesterday, reinforcing his commitment to transparency.

Additionally, Rep. Duterte’s move responds to a challenge from his political rival, Congressman Migs Nograles, who earlier urged the congressman to undergo a drug test. Duterte emphasized that the decision to take the test is part of his support for his sister’s call for electoral candidates to set an example of accountability.

As the 2025 elections approach, this development highlights the growing pressure on public officials to demonstrate transparency and integrity in response to both public and political challenges.
