Iligan City – In a significant anti-drug operation on October 11, 2024, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region X (PDEA X) successfully dismantled a drug den in Barangay Santiago, Iligan City. The operation, carried out through a joint buy-bust sting, was spearheaded by the PDEA X Iligan-Lanao del Norte Provincial Office and its Seaport Interdiction Unit (SIU), with support from the Iligan City Police Office – PS1 and the PNP Task Force of Iligan City.
During the operation, authorities arrested nine individuals, including a 71-year-old woman and a minor. Approximately 6 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around Php 40,800 based on Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) estimates, were seized from the suspects.
The following individuals were apprehended:
- Alias Tosa, female, 71, resident of Brgy. Santiago, Iligan City
- Isang, female, 39, resident of Brgy. Santiago, Iligan City
- Alias El, male, 17, resident of Brgy. Santiago, Iligan City
- Alias Jim, male, 46, resident of Brgy. Del Carmen, Iligan City
- Alias Nel, male, 22, resident of Brgy. Santiago, Iligan City
- Alias Bert, male, 27, resident of Brgy. Tibanga, Iligan City
- Alias Gel, male, 20, resident of Brgy. Tibanga, Iligan City
- Alias Jong2, male, 30, resident of Brgy. Ma Cristina, Iligan City
- Alias Roroy, male, 20, resident of Brgy. Del Carmen, Iligan City
All suspects are set to face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation highlights PDEA’s ongoing efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in the region, with a particular focus on dismantling drug dens and bringing those involved to justice. PDEA X Regional Director emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to reducing illegal drug activities and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities.
