A 28-year-old man was shot dead in a broad daylight attack in Sitio Sabpa, Barangay Tugal, Kadayangan, Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on the afternoon of October 13, 2024.
The victim, identified as Jose Francisco Dinopol Buagas, a resident of Purok Zone 3, Poblacion 7, Midsayap, Cotabato, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his shoulder and chest, leading to his immediate death. The weapon used in the attack has not yet been identified.
According to initial reports, the suspects took Buagas’ motorcycle and cellphone after the shooting, suggesting a possible robbery motive. However, authorities are still conducting an investigation to confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Buagas’ companion, who hails from Upper Glad 1, Midsayap, Cotabato, survived the attack and is cooperating with the investigation.
The local police are currently pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The incident has raised concerns over safety in the area, and authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
