Governor Salliman, Partido Federal Aspirants File COCs for 2025 Elections in Basilan

Basilan Governor Jim Salliman-Hataman, along with other aspirants from Partido Federal, officially filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) on Friday, marking the start of their campaign for the 2025 elections. Governor Salliman, after serving three terms and transforming Basilan into a progressive and secure province, is now seeking the vice gubernatorial seat. His son, incumbent District 2 Board Member Atty. Jay Jay Hataman Salliman, is aspiring for the province’s top post as governor.

In his filing, Atty. Salliman emphasized “continuity” as the main agenda of their party. He pledged to continue the legacy of his father, who has led Basilan through nine years of development, focusing on improving infrastructure, economic growth, and security. Under Governor Salliman’s leadership, Basilan has seen notable advancements, transitioning from a conflict-affected area to a more stable and thriving province.

Partido Federal’s Key Candidates

Joining Governor Salliman and Atty. Salliman in the race are other prominent Partido Federal candidates. Incumbent Vice Governor Yusop Yusop T. Alano, who has served alongside the governor, is running for a congressional seat. Several Provincial Board aspirants also filed their COCs, all unified under the platform of sustaining the progress that Basilan has experienced in recent years.

In Isabela City, considered the de facto capital of Basilan, Salliman’s youngest son, Vice Mayor Kifli Kifli Hataman-Salliman, has entered the mayoral race. Vice Mayor Salliman’s running mate, last-termer Board Member Moamar Moumar Muarip, filed his candidacy for vice mayor. Together, they presented a complete slate for the City Council, signaling a strong political push in Isabela City under the Salliman family’s leadership.

A Vision for Isabela City

If elected, Vice Mayor Kifli Salliman has outlined plans to push for urban development and improved peace and order in Isabela City. He envisions a modern, well-planned city that continues to attract investments and opportunities for its residents. His platform includes high-level urban planning initiatives aimed at accommodating the city’s growing population and addressing the need for better infrastructure and public services.

The Salliman Legacy

The Salliman family has been at the forefront of Basilan’s political and developmental landscape for years. Governor Jim Salliman’s tenure is widely credited with laying the groundwork for stability in a province that has long struggled with security concerns. His administration focused on establishing peace, rehabilitating former conflict zones, and improving the province’s overall governance.

With Atty. Jay Jay Salliman running for governor, the family hopes to continue these initiatives, with the younger Salliman expected to bring fresh energy and legal expertise to the role. His campaign centers on maintaining Basilan’s trajectory towards growth, while addressing emerging challenges such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare.

As the election season approaches, the Salliman family’s candidacies are expected to be closely watched, with their Partido Federal slate presenting a formidable force in Basilan’s local politics.
