Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao Holds Turnover of Command Ceremony for DA BFAR MCS-3007 and Welcomes Two New High-Speed Rescue Boats

Davao City, October 30, 2024 – In a significant boost to maritime security and environmental protection, the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) held a Turnover of Command Ceremony today at the HCGDSEM Maalab Hall. The event, presided over by Commodore Rejard V. Marfe PCG, saw Captain Wendell A. Soliva PCG formally relinquish command of the DA BFAR MCS-3007 to Commander Rafael C. Carolino PCG. This transition highlighted DA BFAR MCS-3007’s enduring commitment to safeguarding marine resources and enhancing maritime security in the region.

During the ceremony, Captain Soliva PCG was honored with the Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon, recognizing his exemplary service. Under his command, DA BFAR MCS-3007 logged an impressive 991 hours and 59 minutes of steaming time, covering a total of 6,581.75 nautical miles. His leadership from September 27, 2023, to October 25, 2024, contributed significantly to CGDSEM’s operational success. Commodore Marfe extended his gratitude for Captain Soliva’s exceptional service, noting the strong legacy of dedication he leaves behind.

Commodore Marfe warmly welcomed Commander Carolino as the new Commanding Officer of DA BFAR MCS-3007, encouraging him to uphold the vessel’s critical role in marine protection and environmental stewardship. Commander Carolino’s leadership is expected to advance the Coast Guard’s ongoing mission to safeguard the marine environment and enhance maritime security throughout the Davao Region.

In conjunction with the Turnover Ceremony, CGDSEM also strengthened its operational capabilities with the arrival of two new High-Speed Rescue Boats, HSRB-033 and HSRB-034, in Toril, Davao City. Departing from General Santos City under the guidance of Chief Petty Officer Mahaleel I. Bermas and Petty Officer 2 Jhovane B. Baba, the vessels successfully reached Daliao Fishport Complex in Toril, ready to bolster CGDSEM’s response during the upcoming Undas season as part of OPLAN BYAHENG AYOS: UNDAS 2024.

The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao encouraged the public to prioritize safety by adhering to local advisories and following established protocols as travel and coastal activities increase. CGDSEM remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring safe and secure waters across the Davao Region.

A formal welcome ceremony for the new High-Speed Rescue Boats is planned for a later date.
