Bislig City, Surigao del Sur – The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office has strongly condemned the shooting incident involving Police Master Sergeant Kenneth Viola Cacho, which resulted in the deaths of two women on the night of September 9, 2024, in Mangagoy, Bislig City.
According to police reports, the incident was a crime of passion. The suspect, PMSgt Cacho, allegedly shot the two women inside a bar after discovering that one of the victims, his former girlfriend, had a new relationship. The victim has been identified as Janeth Catarman Besa, 21 years old.
The second victim, Karyl Abanggan, 25 years old, was a friend of Besa. She was also shot and killed after attempting to intervene in the altercation.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Bislig City Police Station, and appropriate charges are being prepared against him.
The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office has expressed its deep regret over the incident and assured the public that justice will be served.
