Carmen, Surigao del Sur – On September 9, 2024, two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to the troops of the 36th Infantry “Valor” Battalion at Barangay Puyat, Carmen, Surigao del Sur. Under the leadership of LTC Vincent M. Viray INF (GSC) PA, Commander of the 36IB, the two surrenderees expressed their reasons for leaving the armed struggle. The 36th Infantry Battalion, in collaboration with local government units (LGUs) and partner agencies, continues to support the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). This program provides opportunities for former rebels who surrender and return to the fold of the government, offering them a chance for a better life.
Lt. Col. Vincent M. Viray urged remaining CTG members to surrender and participate in activities that promote peace in Surigao del Sur. He emphasized that it is the Philippine Army’s duty to genuinely serve the people and protect their rights.
