Successful Resolution of Dispute Between Groups in Barangay Bialong, Shariff Aguak

Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao Del Sur – On Thursday, September 19, 2024, a significant step towards peace was achieved as the dispute between the groups of Nasrudin Abdulsatar and Rustum G. Guiamadel, both residents of Barangay Bialong, was successfully resolved.

The Peace, Security and Reconciliation Office of the Office of the Chief Minister (PSRO-OCM), led by Executive Director Anwar S. Alamada, spearheaded the reconciliation process. This initiative was in collaboration with Mr. Butch P. Malang, the current Chairman of the MILF-CCCH and Administrator of the Special Geographic Area Development Authority.

The conflict originated from an allegation, which was denied by the opposing party. Through the efforts of the PSRO, both groups agreed to address the issue diplomatically.

Clan feuding, locally known as “rido,” is a recurring issue in many parts of Mindanao. These conflicts often arise from personal grudges, land disputes, or political rivalries and can escalate into violent confrontations affecting entire communities. The successful mediation in Barangay Bialong underscores the importance of dialogue and cooperation in resolving such disputes.
