PRO BAR Strengthens Security Measures Ahead of 2025 Midterm Election COC Filing

The Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) has intensified its security preparations in anticipation of the upcoming Filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) for the 2025 Midterm Elections. The filing period is scheduled for October 1-8, 2024, as set by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

In a significant move to ensure peace and order, PRO BAR has raised its Alert Status from Heightened Alert to Full Alert. This escalation in security operations is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly COC filing process across the region.

A total of 4,888 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel will be deployed across 119 municipalities and one chartered city, covering the six provinces of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Cotabato City. The deployment plan includes:

  • 1,468 personnel assigned to secure routes and checkpoints
  • 1,294 Civil Disturbance Management Contingents
  • 1,232 personnel designated for general security duties
  • 544 personnel tasked with convoy security
  • 350 Quick Reactionary Forces on standby for immediate response

These efforts are designed to ensure the safety of Bangsamoro citizens, especially those aspiring candidates submitting their COCs during this period.

Under the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN Prexy D. Tanggawohn, PRO BAR is working closely with other government and law enforcement agencies to guarantee the safety and smooth conduct of the COC filing. The PNP assures the public that it will maintain a neutral and apolitical stance throughout the election process leading up to the 2025 Midterm Elections.
