One day before the official filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) begins, the Alpha Company of the 34th Infantry Battalion deployed troops to the town of SGA BARMM on Monday, September 30, 2024. This deployment aims to maintain peace and security during the eight-day filing period for election candidates.
In preparation for any potential unrest, Alpha Company strategically positioned 60mm mortars in select areas as a precautionary measure.
Earlier today, Lt. Col. Edgardo Batinay, the commanding officer of the 34th Infantry Battalion, met with Alpha Company Commander 1st Lt. Dindo Paddayuman to discuss the security situation. Additionally, Lt. Paddayuman visited several Commission on Elections (COMELEC) offices to gather insights from election officers regarding local conditions.
A total of 112 personnel from Alpha Company were deployed, including two Army officials, 73 regular soldiers, and 37 Civilian Active Auxiliaries (CAA). The area under Alpha Company’s supervision includes the towns of Midsayap, Pigcawayan, and Northern Kabuntalan, as well as the SGA municipalities of Pahamudin, Nabalawag, and Kadayangan.
The presence of military forces aims to ensure that the COC filing period proceeds smoothly and safely, preventing any potential disturbances that may arise during the electoral process.
