PBGen. Nicolas Torre III Appointed as New CIDG Director

MANILA – Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III has been appointed as the new Director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG). Torre’s appointment comes after his notable tenure as the Regional Director of Police Regional Office 11 (PRO-11).

During his time as Regional Director of PRO-11, Torre led significant operations, including the high-profile attempt to serve an arrest warrant against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy and other co-accused individuals. The operation, which took place in June 2024, targeted multiple properties associated with Quiboloy, including the KOJC Compound in Davao City.

The operation faced challenges, including resistance from Quiboloy’s followers, which resulted in the arrest of six KOJC members for obstruction of justice2. Despite the difficulties, Torre’s leadership was instrumental in coordinating the efforts of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Special Action Force (SAF), and local police units.

Torre’s new role as CIDG Director will involve overseeing the PNP’s efforts to investigate and combat criminal activities nationwide. His experience and dedication to law enforcement are expected to enhance the CIDG’s capabilities in addressing complex criminal cases and ensuring public safety.

The PNP continues to emphasize its commitment to upholding the rule of law and pursuing justice, as demonstrated by Torre’s appointment and the ongoing efforts to address high-profile cases such as the KOJC saga.
