MP Anna Tarhata Basman Resigns from Bangsamoro Parliament

Cotabato City – MP Anna Tarhata S. Basman has officially announced her resignation as a Member of Parliament in the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), effective October 1, 2024.

In her letter to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Basman expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in her when she was reappointed in 2022. This reappointment allowed her to serve the Bangsamoro people for five years.

Despite stepping down from her position, Basman assured that her commitment to serving the Filipino people and the Bangsamoro remains unwavering. She emphasized that her advocacy and dedication to genuine change will continue to be at the forefront of her efforts.

With Basman’s resignation, questions arise about whether President Marcos will appoint a new MP to replace her, especially with only a few months remaining before the anticipated parliamentary elections.

Basman’s departure marks a significant moment for the Bangsamoro Parliament, as her contributions and leadership have been instrumental in the region’s ongoing development and progress. The Bangsamoro community will be closely watching the next steps in this transition period.
