LDN PPO Seizes Over Php 11M Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes in Sultan Naga Dimaporo

amp Gallego, Tubod, Lanao del Norte – In a significant operation early this morning, enforcement officers seized over Php 11,440,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.

At approximately 4:47 AM on September 9, 2024, personnel from the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station (SND MPS), together with the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office (LDN PPO), and Lanao del Norte Maritime Police Station, were patrolling the shoreline of Barangay Sigayan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo. During their patrol, they inadvertently discovered 286 boxes of White Cannon brand smuggled cigarettes, with a market value of Php 11,440,000.00, piled and abandoned at the location.

The SND MPS has launched an investigation and follow-up operations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the smuggling operation. The seized cigarettes are now under the custody of the SND MPS for documentation and further disposition.

PCOL Roy A. Magsalay, Provincial Director of LDN PPO, commended the operating personnel for their successful operation. “The Lanao del Norte PPO is committed to eradicating the illicit cigarette trade, which not only undermines government revenues but also poses serious health risks to the public,” he stated.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement agencies to combat smuggling activities and protect the country’s borders from the influx of illegal goods.
