Tagum City, Davao del Norte – A total of 130 unregistered or defective weighing scales were confiscated in surprise inspections conducted by the City Treasurer’s Office in August. The inspections were carried out in various parts of the city, including the public market at Tabo, the wholesale market at Bagsakan, fish stalls, and lechonan (roast pig stalls) along Rizal Street.
The City Treasurer’s Office has called on owners of the confiscated weighing scales to have them calibrated and claim them from the office. However, if these are not retrieved in a timely manner, they may be disposed of at the Tagum City Motorpool.
This initiative is part of the local government’s effort to ensure that consumers are provided with accurate weights for the products they purchase in the market, safeguarding consumer rights and promoting fair trade practices.
