General Santos City – A male job order employee of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of General Santos City was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sinawal on August 21, 2024. The operation took place more than a month after his illegal drug activities were reported to the authorities.
The suspect, identified as Fiel Joseph Otacan alias “Doc,” 30, a Meat Inspector assigned to the Office of the City Veterinarian, was apprehended along with his cohort, Maria Luz Oraiz y Villabito, 43, a resident of Barangay Apopong and currently unemployed.
During the operation, authorities confiscated two sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, and a sachet of folded cigarette containing suspected dried marijuana leaves. The estimated value of the seized illegal drugs is Php 14,400.00.
The suspects are currently detained at the PDEA ROXII Custodial Facility and will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The successful operation was a joint effort by the PDEA Sarangani-Gensan Provincial Office, PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Team, and General Santos City Police Office Station 2. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal drug activities and maintain public safety in the region.
