Four members of a local terrorist group surrendered to the government, bringing their weapons to Barangay Salbu, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, on the morning of August 31, 2024.
Lt. Col. Christian Cabading, Battalion Commander of the 92nd Infantry Battalion, stated that the four who surrendered brought their combat weapons, including an M14 Rifle, M16 Rifle, SAS12 Shotgun, and Barrett Rifle, to the 92IB, 1BCT headquarters.
The 92IB is now coordinating with the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur and the BARMM Government to provide financial assistance and reform the returnees through the AGILA-HAVEN Program (Children with Golden Goals to Stop Violent Extremism Now) and Project TUGON (Government Assistance with Compassion).
Maj. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, Division Commander of the 6ID and JTF Central, expressed his happiness with the decision made by the former rebels.
“We are grateful that you have turned your back on your group and abandoned terrorist activities. With the help of our government, I believe that your embrace of peace will greatly benefit your family and help us achieve a peaceful and safe community,” said Maj. Gen. Nafarrete.
