In a bid to bolster maritime security and law enforcement in the island municipalities of Tawi-Tawi, PCOL Rodolfo A. Inoy Jr., Provincial Director of the Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office (PPO), conducted two important field visits to frontline police units in Mapun and Turtle Islands this April.
On April 9, 2025, PCOL Inoy visited the Mapun Maritime Special Boat Crew (MSBC) of the 1st Special Operations Unit under the PNP Maritime Group. He was warmly welcomed by PLT Gerald L. Miralles, Chief of MSBC Mapun. The visit focused on assessing the operational readiness of the maritime team and strengthening inter-agency coordination in addressing maritime crimes.
During the engagement, key challenges were discussed, particularly the vast coastal waters surrounding Mapun, mobility limitations, and the need for sustained support from both national and local agencies. PCOL Inoy emphasized the importance of teamwork in ensuring coastal safety and the continued dedication of the Tawi-Tawi PPO to supporting maritime enforcement efforts.
Two days later, on April 11, PCOL Inoy proceeded to Turtle Islands for another field visit and inspection at the Turtle Islands Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Barangay Poblacion. He was received by Officer-in-Charge PCPT Ardon A. Ahamad and his personnel.
In his message, the Provincial Director stressed the critical role of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in maintaining peace and ensuring a credible and non-partisan electoral process, particularly as the election season nears. He reminded personnel to uphold professionalism and integrity at all times.
The visit also included a health and wellness outreach led by PCPT Hussein D. Cacatian, Team Leader of the Provincial Medical and Dental Team. The activity featured an information drive on health, free vital check-ups, and distribution of medical kits for the police force.
PCOL Inoy expressed his appreciation for the unwavering commitment of the Turtle Islands MPS, especially given the geographical isolation and limited resources in the area. He commended the personnel for their service and encouraged them to remain vigilant and united in fulfilling their duties as the first line of defense in one of the country’s most remote municipalities.
Both visits reflect the Tawi-Tawi PPO’s proactive stance in strengthening police visibility, readiness, and collaboration across far-flung island communities, ensuring that public safety and maritime security remain a top priority.
