Catu, commander of the 601st Infantry (Unifier) Brigade, led the ceremonial turnover of loose firearms at the headquarters of the 1st Mechanized Infantry (LAKAN) Battalion in Barangay Midtimbang, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Maguindanao del Sur.

The event was facilitated by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Betita, Commanding Officer of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion, who formally presented the surrendered firearms to Brig. Gen. Catu. Datu Anggal Midtimbang (DAM) Mayor Midpantao Midtimbang was also present to witness the activity.

“This successful turnover of loose firearms was made possible through the cooperation of the LGU of Guindulungan and the valuable information provided by local residents regarding the presence of armed groups in these areas,” Lt. Col. Betita said.

In his message, Brig. Gen. Catu encouraged communities to continue supporting authorities in eliminating threats to public safety.

“The surrender of these instruments of violence is a direct result of our relentless military operations against lawless groups. It is a testament to the dedication of our soldiers to rid our communities of loose firearms and prevent their use in violent activities,” he stated.

Major General Donald Gumiran, Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) Central and the 6th Infantry Division (6ID), commended the active participation and collaboration of local government units in the ongoing peace and development campaign, especially as the upcoming elections draw near.

“These efforts aim to ensure that our communities remain peaceful, secure, and orderly. We urge remaining members of lawless groups to return to the fold of the law and live peacefully with their families,” Maj. Gen. Gumiran said.

The activity reflects the sustained commitment of the military and local government units to promote peace and order in Maguindanao del Sur.
