Camp Col Rafael C. Rodriguez, Libertad, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 has successfully arrested 10 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members and facilitated the surrender of 34 others from January 1 to February 27, 2025, as part of its intensified anti-insurgency efforts across the Caraga region.
Among the 44 CTG members, 12 were listed in the Periodic Status Report (PSR), while the remaining 32 were non-PSR listed. PRO13 also reported the recovery and surrender of 18 firearms, eight explosives, and 53 rounds of assorted ammunition during the same period.
A significant development in the region’s campaign against insurgency occurred on February 12, 2025, when Myrna Sularte, also known as Maria Malaya, a high-ranking leader of the New People’s Army (NPA), was killed in a military operation in Sitio Tagulahi, Barangay Pianing, Butuan City.
PBGen Abrahano attributed these successes to the strengthened collaboration among the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and local communities. “The increasing number of arrested or surrendered CTG personalities is the result of our collective efforts. Every setback for the CTG is a victory for the Filipino people,” he stated.
PRO13 reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities and putting an end to local communist armed conflict, aligning with the whole-of-nation approach to achieving lasting peace in the Caraga region.
