LANAO DEL SUR – Former Mayor Abdulazis Tadua Aloyodan, 60, was shot and killed in Barangay Oriental Beta, Lumbaca Unayan, Lanao del Sur, on the morning of February 26, 2025. He was the husband of the incumbent mayor, Jamalia Dimatunday Aloyodan.
According to reports, the victim was standing at a motor pool in front of his residence near the municipal hall when unidentified gunmen aboard a white pick-up truck approached and shot him multiple times. Recovered at the crime scene were three spent shells from a 7.62 caliber firearm and six from a 5.56 caliber firearm.
Aloyodan was rushed to Dr. Nasser Clinic in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack. The Lumbaca Unayan Municipal Police and the 2nd PMFC of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office are conducting a hot pursuit operation and thorough investigation into the incident.
