GENERAL SANTOS CITY, South Cotabato – A joint tree-planting activity aimed at boosting reforestation efforts and promoting ecological balance was successfully conducted in Barangay Mabuhay on February 15. The initiative, facilitated by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) General Santos City, saw the planting of at least 500 narra seedlings within a designated National Greening Program (NGP) site.
CENRO personnel provided technical assistance and ensured that proper tree-planting procedures were followed to maximize the survival rate of the seedlings. The initiative aligns with the city’s ongoing efforts to combat deforestation, mitigate climate change, and restore green spaces.
The event was spearheaded by the Retired Scout Ranger Alumni Association South Cotabato Chapter and the local media of General Santos City, in collaboration with the Bagong Buhay Producers Cooperative and people’s organizations under the NGP. The activity carried the theme, “He who plants a tree, plants a hope.”
CENRO General Santos City reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that contribute to environmental stewardship and natural resource conservation. The agency continues to support initiatives that promote sustainability and enhance ecological resilience in the region.
