Malungon, Sarangani Province – February 6, 2025 – In a decisive move against illegal drug operations, a joint task force successfully uprooted and destroyed approximately 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 3,000 seedlings, with a total estimated value of Php 2,200,000.00.
The large-scale anti-drug operation was carried out by the Malungon Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 12, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Sarangani Police Provincial Office (SPPO), the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 12 Tracker Team Alpha, and the 1st Sarangani Police Mobile Force Company (SPMFC). The effort was supervised by PCOL DEANRY R. FRANCISCO, Provincial Director of SPPO 12, and conducted in close coordination with the 73rd Infantry Battalion (IB), Neutralizer, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) 12, and local barangay officials of Barangay Blaan.
The operation took place in Sitio Magbok, Barangay Blaan, Malungon, Sarangani Province, where authorities also recovered two (2) hills of fully grown marijuana plants for laboratory examination. The eradication process was witnessed and documented by a media representative from Infinite FM Radio alongside barangay officials.
The primary suspect, identified as alias “Ayol,” a male resident of Sitio Lamlango, Barangay Bulol Salo, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, remains at large. Authorities believe that he is a key cultivator of the illegal marijuana plantation in the area.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks and ensuring the safety and security of the local community. They urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug cultivation and trafficking.
