Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City – On January 6, 2025, a joint drug buy-bust operation at Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion, New Corella, Davao del Norte, resulted in the arrest of alias “Apol,” classified as a High Value Individual (HVI), along with another drug personality. The successful operation underscores the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign in the region.
The operation led to the seizure of four rectangular heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The confiscated drugs have an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP 136,000.00. Other items recovered from the scene included one genuine and 67 machine-copied 1,000-peso bills, one black BAJAJ motorcycle, two pieces of paper wrappers, and one sling bag.
Authorities are preparing to file a case against the suspects for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, through inquest proceedings.
PRO 11 Regional Director, PBGEN Leon Victor Z. Rosete, commended the dedication and commitment of the personnel involved in the operation. The team included members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 11 (RPDEU 11), the New Corella Municipal Police Station, and the 1st Davao Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st DNPMFC).
“This operation demonstrates the unwavering resolve of our police force to eradicate illegal drugs in our communities,” PBGEN Rosete stated, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in the fight against illicit substances.
