Davao City, Philippines – An Australian national was arrested on January 1, 2025, after allegedly physically abusing his live-in partner in Purok 6, Batilisan, Tacunan, Davao City.
Police Major Vincent Ignacio B. Follante, Acting Station Commander of the Tugbok Police Station, reported that the victim called 911 seeking immediate assistance following the incident. Responding swiftly to the distress call, officers from the Tugbok Police Station apprehended the suspect, identified as “Tony,” a 41-year-old resident of the area.
The suspect is now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9262, also known as the “Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.”
The Police Regional Office 11 emphasized the importance of public cooperation in addressing such incidents. Authorities urged Davaoeños to promptly report any acts of violence or violations of the law, highlighting that community involvement plays a crucial role in maintaining long-term peace and order.
