The Marawi Compensation Board (MCB) has reported significant progress in addressing the compensation claims of victims affected by the 2017 Marawi siege. As of January 2, 2025, the board has resolved a total of 1,436 claims, showcasing its commitment to providing timely financial assistance to those impacted by the tragedy.

Of the resolved claims, 1,161 have been approved, amounting to a total of ₱2,035,079,994.93. This substantial sum underscores the board’s dedication to ensuring that the victims receive the compensation they rightfully deserve. Additionally, 119 claims have been consolidated, encompassing renters, sharers, and co-owners who were affected by the siege. However, 156 claims have been disapproved, indicating the board’s rigorous evaluation process to ensure the legitimacy of each case.

Notably, 496 claims have already been awarded, with victims receiving a cumulative amount of ₱841,887,957.40. The awarded compensation provides a crucial lifeline for affected individuals and families as they work to rebuild their lives.

The remaining approved claims are currently under processing, with the Marawi Compensation Board coordinating with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to release the required funds. This step is vital to expedite the disbursement process and address the pending claims effectively.

The MCB’s efforts reflect the government’s broader commitment to supporting Marawi’s recovery and rehabilitation. Through initiatives like this, the affected residents are offered hope and financial relief as they continue their journey toward healing and rebuilding.
