As part of its preparations for crafting the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2026-2035, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tagum City brought together diverse stakeholders for a collaborative meeting and commitment-signing ceremony.

Held yesterday at AVR 5, Tagum City Hall, the event was attended by the City Development Council, barangay captains, various LGU departments, civil society organizations, and representatives from national government agencies. The gathering, spearheaded by the City Planning and Development Office and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region XI, aimed to highlight the crucial role of the CLUP in fostering sustainable urban development.

Discussions during the orientation and consultation revolved around the strategic use of land resources to address urban challenges while ensuring balanced economic growth, environmental protection, and social development. The CLUP is envisioned to serve as a comprehensive blueprint for managing Tagum’s land resources, setting a clear direction for its development over the next decade.

Mayor Rey T. Uy emphasized the importance of harmonizing economic priorities with ecological sustainability, aiming for a future where progress and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. “The CLUP will guide us in achieving a sustainable and inclusive urban transformation,” Mayor Uy remarked, underscoring the plan’s alignment with Tagum’s long-term vision.

A symbolic “Wall of Commitment” served as the centerpiece of the event, with stakeholders signing their names to demonstrate their dedication to the plan’s success. This act of solidarity showcased a shared commitment to the responsible management of land resources and the realization of Tagum’s urban aspirations.

With this proactive step, Tagum City takes a significant stride toward crafting a well-rounded and future-ready Comprehensive Land Use Plan, ensuring that the city continues to thrive for generations to come.
