Aloran, Misamis Occidental — A barangay kagawad was apprehended in a buy-bust operation on Monday, December 2, 2024, in P4 Maular, Aloran, Misamis Occidental.
The suspect, identified as Renato (alias), 43, a resident of P3 Monterico, Aloran, was arrested during the joint operation led by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) with assistance from the Aloran Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the 1002nd Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB).
According to authorities, Renato was found in possession of nine sachets of a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The confiscated items had a total weight of approximately 4.3 grams and an estimated street value of ₱29,000.
Police also recovered the buy-bust money, including a marked ₱500 bill, and a wallet containing identification cards.
The operation was part of the government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs. “We are committed to pursuing individuals involved in illegal activities, regardless of their position in the community,” a police spokesperson stated.
Renato is currently in police custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165).
Authorities reaffirmed their dedication to combating illegal drugs and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and order in their communities.
