LAMITAN CITY, Basilan — A 32-year-old egg trader was wounded after being shot and robbed of approximately ₱400,000 in cash and his cellphone in Barangay Sengal, Lamitan City, on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2026.

The victim was identified by authorities as Aldison Ammad y Akmad, who reportedly sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. The money taken was believed to have come from his egg sales.
Police identified the alleged gunman and robbery suspect as Saddam Lagasan, who was reportedly the victim’s brother-in-law. Lamitan City Police Chief Lt. Col. Joel Tuttuh identified Lagasan as the person allegedly responsible for the shooting and robbery.
Initial information indicated that the suspect fled after the incident, taking approximately ₱400,000 and the victim’s cellphone. His escape prompted police to launch follow-up operations to establish his whereabouts and secure his arrest.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack and gather evidence that could support the filing of appropriate criminal charges against the suspect.
The incident raises concerns over the security of local business operators who regularly handle substantial amounts of cash from their daily transactions, particularly those transporting sales proceeds.
Meanwhile, the victim is reportedly recovering from his injuries. Authorities have yet to release further details about the circumstances leading to the shooting, including the possible motive behind the attack.
The allegations against the identified suspect remain subject to police investigation and the judicial process.
