PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Sultan Kudarat — A newborn baby girl who was found alive inside a sack and abandoned in a grassy area in Purok Magic Rose, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, on Friday morning, October 30, died after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to initial reports, the infant had been placed inside a sack, wrapped, and left in a grassy area. She was reportedly not immediately discovered by passersby, leaving her exposed to the conditions inside the sack before someone eventually found her.
When discovered, the baby was still alive but was already in a deteriorating condition. The incident was immediately reported to barangay officials and social welfare authorities, including the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The newborn was subsequently rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, despite efforts to save her, she was declared dead on arrival by medical personnel.
The circumstances surrounding the baby’s abandonment, including who left her in the area and how long she remained undiscovered, have yet to be established. Authorities are expected to look into the incident and determine the identity of her parents.
Meanwhile, authorities and concerned citizens are appealing to anyone with information that could help identify the baby’s parents or shed light on the incident to coordinate with the President Quirino Barangay Hall or the President Quirino Municipal Police Station.
The incident highlights the urgent need to protect newborns and ensure that infants in crisis situations are brought to appropriate medical and social welfare services rather than abandoned in life-threatening conditions.
