BAROBO, Surigao del Sur — A caliber .45 firearm, along with a magazine and three live rounds of ammunition, was voluntarily surrendered to police authorities in Sitio Cutlog, Barangay Bahi, Barobo, Surigao del Sur, on October 4, 2026, as part of the Philippine National Police’s continuing campaign against loose and unauthorized firearms.

Personnel of the 1301st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13 (RMFB13) facilitated the voluntary turnover of the firearm during their continuing efforts to account for and recover undocumented or unauthorized firearms within their area of responsibility.

The surrendered weapon was identified as a caliber .45 Caspian. It was turned over together with one caliber .45 magazine and three live ammunition, giving authorities custody of both the firearm and its associated ammunition.

Police said the voluntary surrender forms part of ongoing law-enforcement and community-engagement efforts aimed at reducing the presence of loose firearms in local communities. Undocumented or unauthorized firearms can pose a security risk when they remain outside the monitoring and regulatory mechanisms of law-enforcement authorities.

Following the turnover, the firearm, magazine and ammunition were placed under the custody of the 1301st Maneuver Company, RMFB13 for proper documentation, safekeeping and appropriate disposition in accordance with existing policies and procedures.

The police unit reiterated its call for individuals who may still be in possession of undocumented or unauthorized firearms to voluntarily surrender them to the nearest police station or appropriate police unit.

Authorities emphasized that the continuing recovery of loose firearms is part of broader efforts to maintain peace and order, prevent the misuse of firearms and strengthen community safety.

The Barobo operation also highlights the role of community cooperation in law-enforcement efforts, particularly in identifying and accounting for firearms that are not properly documented or authorized.

The 1301st Maneuver Company, RMFB13 said it will continue to intensify its campaign against the proliferation and unauthorized possession of firearms while strengthening engagement with communities within its area of responsibility.
