DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Police personnel apprehended a man following a reported incident of malicious mischief at the Barangay Hall of Barangay 5-A in Davao City early Saturday morning, September 19, 2026.
According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the incident was discovered at around 7:16 a.m. after the barangay treasurer noticed several documents displaced and office items apparently disturbed inside the barangay hall.
No missing property was reported in connection with the incident. Based on the initial police account, the matter was recorded as an alleged malicious mischief incident, pending any further proceedings or formal complaint.
Responding police officers immediately conducted verification and an initial investigation at the barangay hall. Their response subsequently led to the apprehension of a man reportedly working as a helper at the barangay hall.
Police did not identify the man publicly in the information released regarding the incident. His apprehension, therefore, should not by itself be treated as a determination of criminal liability.
The situation did not proceed to a formal criminal complaint after the barangay captain reportedly opted not to file one. Police said the individual was personally known to barangay officials.
Despite the absence of a formal complaint, authorities documented the incident in the police blotter to establish an official record of the reported disturbance and the police response.
The incident highlights the importance of maintaining security and order even in local government facilities, where documents and other materials related to public services are routinely kept.
