A 35-year-old man was killed after he was allegedly hacked by two of his drinking companions following a heated argument in Pangantucan, Bukidnon, on Wednesday evening, September 2, 2026.
The victim, identified only as alias “Rendon,” was reportedly attacked in Purok 4, Barangay Kimanait, after what authorities described as a confrontation that erupted among the group following their drinking session.
According to the initial police report, Rendon had been drinking with several friends before the incident. After the drinking session ended, two of his companions allegedly offered to accompany him home.
However, while they were on their way, an argument reportedly broke out between Rendon and the two suspects.
Police said the confrontation escalated when Rendon allegedly first attacked the two men with a bladed weapon. The two suspects reportedly retaliated, hacking Rendon in different parts of his body.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including wounds to both knees and his neck. The neck injury proved fatal, resulting in his death.
Rendon was immediately brought to a medical facility for emergency treatment. However, attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police investigators recovered two bladed weapons from the scene, which were believed to have been used during the confrontation.
Following the incident, police launched a hot pursuit operation that led to the arrest of the two alleged suspects.
The suspects are now under police custody as investigators continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
Authorities are reportedly preparing to file a homicide complaint against the two arrested men.
