LUUK, Sulu — A swift joint response by Army troops and police personnel led to the apprehension of an alleged suspect and the immediate delivery of medical assistance to an elderly couple following a violent incident in Barangay Lambago, Luuk, Sulu, on August 27, 2026.
The incident was reported at around 5:45 p.m., prompting elements of the Philippine Army’s 101st Infantry “Sajahitra” Battalion (101IB) and personnel of the Luuk Municipal Police Station (MPS) to immediately proceed to the area after receiving information from a concerned civilian.
According to Lt. Col. Dante Mantes, commanding officer of the 101IB, the responding forces included personnel from Alpha Company, 101IB, led by 2Lt. De Guzman, who coordinated with the Luuk MPS in responding to the reported hacking incident.
Upon reaching Barangay Lambago, the joint responders apprehended the alleged suspect, identified only as alias “Faisal,” a resident of the barangay and reportedly a relative of one of the victims.
A bolo believed to have been used in the incident was also recovered by authorities. The weapon remains subject to further examination and investigation as law enforcement personnel work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Elderly Couple Receives Immediate Medical Assistance
The victims were identified as alias **“Radjam,” 68, and his wife, alias “Juma,” 68, both residents of Barangay Lambago.
Following the apprehension of the alleged suspect, the joint Army and police responders immediately facilitated the transport of the victims and the suspect to the Luuk District Hospital (LDH) for medical attention.
Authorities also coordinated with health officials regarding the possible transfer of the injured couple to a higher-level medical facility in Jolo should further treatment be deemed necessary.
The prompt medical response was undertaken alongside security measures to ensure that the victims received appropriate care while the authorities proceeded with their initial investigation.
As of the latest report, the elderly couple and the alleged suspect were receiving medical attention.

Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino P. Delos Santos, commander of the 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade, likewise emphasized the importance of close coordination among security forces, local government units, health authorities, barangay officials, and residents in protecting civilians.
Delos Santos said the rapid response of the 101IB and Luuk MPS showed the value of timely information and effective coordination during emergencies.
“Our priority is the safety and protection of our people. The swift response of the 101st Infantry Battalion and Luuk MPS demonstrates what can be achieved through effective coordination and timely information from the community,” Delos Santos said.
