CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Intensified anti-illegal drug operations conducted by the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-10 and other law enforcement units, resulted in the arrest of six drug suspects and the confiscation of nearly half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu, along with an unlicensed firearm and various drug-related items during a series of buy-bust operations from July 1 to July 3, 2026.

The three separate operations, carried out in the villages of Lapasan, Bugo, and Canitoan, led to the seizure of approximately 71 grams of suspected shabu with a combined Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱482,800, highlighting the continuing crackdown against illegal drug networks operating within the city.

Armed Drug Suspect Arrested in Lapasan

The first operation was conducted on July 1 in San Lazaro, Barangay Lapasan, where operatives arrested a 21-year-old suspect identified only by the alias “Rey.”

The operation was jointly carried out by the CIU Tracker Team, personnel from Police Station 3 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, and the Regional Intelligence Division-10.

Authorities confiscated two large sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 10 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱68,000.

In addition to the illegal drugs, operatives recovered a caliber .38 revolver, ₱1,500 worth of marked buy-bust money, and a sling bag.

The suspect now faces charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act No. 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Two More Suspects Nabbed in Bugo

On July 2, another anti-drug operation was launched in Zone 6, Barangay Bugo, resulting in the arrest of two more suspects identified by their aliases “Raffy,” 23, who is reportedly included in the local drug watchlist, and “Jon-Jon,” 21.

The joint operation involved personnel from Police Station 6, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-10 (PDEA-10), Police Substation Bugo, and the City Mobile Force Company.

Recovered from the suspects were several sachets containing approximately one gram of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of ₱6,800.

Authorities also confiscated the marked buy-bust money and a coin purse believed to have been used during the illegal drug transaction.

High-Value Individual Among Three Arrested in Canitoan

The largest seizure occurred on July 3 during a buy-bust operation in GK SM Relocation, Barangay Canitoan, where police arrested a High-Value Individual (HVI) and two alleged associates.

The suspects were identified through their aliases “Bry,” 35, classified by authorities as an HVI; “Mike,” 44; and “Teo,” 49, all residents of the relocation site.

The operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, under the leadership of PMAJ Aldren Estrada Baculio, with assistance from the City Mobile Force Company and in coordination with PDEA-10.

Police confiscated 10 sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 60 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱408,000.

Also recovered were the marked buy-bust money, a cellular phone, a digital weighing scale, and other drug paraphernalia believed to have been used in the distribution of illegal drugs.

Continuous Crackdown Against Illegal Drugs

All six suspects are now under police custody pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, while the suspect arrested in Lapasan will also face charges under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office reiterated its commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations throughout the city and urged residents to remain vigilant by reporting information on illegal drug activities, loose firearms, and other criminal offenses.

Authorities emphasized that continued cooperation between the public and law enforcement agencies remains vital in sustaining efforts to dismantle drug networks and ensure safer communities across Cagayan de Oro City.
