CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 46-year-old suspected drug personality was arrested during a joint anti-illegal drug operation conducted in Zone 8, Barangay Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City in the early hours of Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Authorities identified the suspect only by his alias “Odik,” a resident of Xavier Heights, Upper Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.

The operation was spearheaded by the Station Anti-Illegal Drug Team (SAIDT) of Police Station 8 under the leadership of PMAJ Joseph D. Hasigan, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10) and other law enforcement units.

According to police reports, the suspect was caught in possession of five sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 50 grams with an estimated standard drug price of ₱340,000.

Operatives also recovered a caliber .38 revolver, three live ammunition, a sling bag, and marked money used in the buy-bust transaction.

Authorities said the successful operation forms part of the intensified campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms in Northern Mindanao, amid continuing concerns over the proliferation of narcotics in urban communities.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The arrested individual is currently under the custody of Police Station 8 of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office pending the filing of appropriate charges and further legal proceedings.

Law enforcement authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining anti-drug operations targeting individuals involved in the illegal drug trade as part of efforts to curb criminality and maintain peace and order in the city.
