PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte — Twenty-four Chinese nationals were apprehended during a joint law enforcement operation conducted by the Bureau of Immigration Region XI with support from the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division in Purok 4, Barangay New Little Panay, Panabo City on May 25, authorities said.

The operation was launched following intelligence reports regarding the alleged presence of foreign nationals engaged in unauthorized employment and operating with questionable immigration documents in the area.
Authorities said 27 Chinese nationals were initially subjected to verification procedures, but 24 were later found to have allegedly committed various immigration violations under Commonwealth Act No. 613, also known as the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
Among the reported violations were misrepresentation, working without the necessary visas or permits, overstaying, and engaging in unauthorized employment while holding inappropriate immigration status.
Investigators also discovered that several of the apprehended individuals were allegedly working for companies different from those that petitioned their visas. Others were reportedly employed despite only holding tourist visas and lacking proper work permits and working visas required under Philippine law.
The foreign nationals are currently under custody at the compound of Tri-Shining International Oil Corporation and Kunheting Corporation in Barangay New Little Panay for initial processing and documentation by immigration authorities.
The Bureau of Immigration XI said the enforcement operation forms part of the government’s intensified campaign against illegal employment and immigration violations involving foreign nationals in the region.
Major General Alvin Luzon underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in protecting national security and ensuring the strict enforcement of immigration laws.
“This successful operation reflects the strong coordination among government agencies in addressing unlawful activities involving foreign nationals. The 10ID remains committed to supporting lawful enforcement operations to ensure public safety and protect national interests within the Area of Operation,” Luzon said.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and documentation procedures to determine the full extent of the alleged violations and identify other individuals who may have been involved in the reported illegal activities.
