Two men were arrested for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act after police operatives recovered a loaded firearm during a checkpoint operation in Kidapawan City.

According to a police report, personnel led by PMSG Joel Calotes were conducting a routine checkpoint operation under Task Force Kalaisan in Barangay Kalaisan when they flagged down two male individuals riding a motorcycle.
Authorities said that while inspecting the suspects, PMSG Calotes noticed in plain view the handgrip of a firearm tucked in the front waist portion of the back rider, prompting operatives to immediately secure the weapon and apprehend the suspects.
Recovered from the possession, control, and custody of the suspects was one Colt caliber .45 pistol loaded with a magazine containing six live rounds of ammunition.
Police said the suspects failed to present the necessary legal documents and permits for the firearm, leading to their arrest for violation of Republic Act No. 10591.
The arrested individuals were identified only by their aliases as “Dar,” 34 years old, and “Jhan Denver Doydora Caballes,” 23 years old.
The suspects were brought to the appropriate police facility for documentation and filing of charges, while the confiscated firearm and ammunition were turned over as evidence.
Authorities reiterated that checkpoint operations remain part of intensified security measures aimed at preventing the transport of illegal firearms and ensuring public safety in the area.
