DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao del Norte — A father was killed on the spot after being shot by his own uncle in a shocking act of violence that has left a family grieving and a community in disbelief.

The victim, identified as Ken-ken Dangcuban, a resident of Barangay Matuber in the neighboring town of Datu Blah Sinsuat, was fatally gunned down around 4:00 p.m. in Sitio Bidek, Barangay Tapian, Datu Odin Sinsuat.

According to initial reports, the suspect—identified as Meldrin Dangcuban, the victim’s uncle and a resident of the same area—was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. Authorities said the suspect forcibly entered the victim’s home and, without warning, opened fire using a shotgun.

The victim sustained severe gunshot wounds to the face, resulting in his immediate death.

Witness accounts and statements from the victim’s relatives indicate that the attack was sudden and unprovoked. The suspect reportedly fled toward the mountainous areas of Barangay Tapian immediately after the shooting and remains at large as of this writing.

Ken-ken Dangcuban leaves behind a young child and a pregnant wife, intensifying the grief and outrage felt by his family. They are now calling for swift justice and the immediate arrest of the suspect.

The Philippine National Police has launched an ongoing investigation into the incident and is conducting pursuit operations to locate and apprehend the suspect.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing, but they are urging anyone with information to come forward as the manhunt continues.

The brutal killing underscores renewed concerns over alcohol-related violence and the accessibility of firearms in rural communities, as residents mourn the loss of a life cut short in a place meant to be safe—his own home.
