DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao del Norte — A man identified as a driver was shot dead in Sitio Maman, Barangay Labungan, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, at around 10:50 a.m. on September 25, 2026.
Police identified the victim as Ramil Ramos, an adult, married, and a resident of Barangay Awang in the same municipality.
Initial information indicated that Ramos was in the area when he was shot by an unidentified assailant. A separate account circulating in connection with the incident alleged that the gunman may have been a passenger of Ramos, but authorities have yet to publicly establish or confirm this detail.
The Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station responded after receiving a report from the barangay chairman. The responding team was led by Deputy Chief of Police Police Captain Sammy Paning.
Ramos was immediately brought to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. However, he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Police investigators recovered two fired cartridge cases and one deformed slug from the crime scene. The pieces of ballistic evidence were secured for appropriate examination and may help investigators establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify the firearm potentially used in the attack.
The assailant or assailants reportedly fled immediately after the shooting and remain unidentified. Police have launched a hot-pursuit operation while continuing efforts to determine the identity of those responsible.
Authorities are also investigating the possible motive behind the killing. As of the latest information available, no suspect has been publicly identified or arrested, and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation.
