SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao del Norte — A tricycle driver was wounded after being shot by an unidentified assailant on the evening of April 17, 2026, marking the second shooting incident in the municipality within 24 hours.
Police identified the victim as Albino Guiamad, an adult resident of Tukananes in Poblacion 7, Cotabato City. According to a report from the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station (MPS), Guiamad was driving his tricycle along a road in Barangay Limbo when he was suddenly attacked and shot by an unknown suspect.
The shooting reportedly occurred in front of the Baraguir Masjid, alarming residents in the area, especially following a similar incident recorded the previous night.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Cotabato Sanitarium and General Hospital for treatment. As of this writing, he remains under medical care, although authorities have yet to disclose the extent of his injuries.
Police said they are still investigating the motive behind the attack and have yet to identify the suspect. Authorities are looking into all possible angles as part of their ongoing probe.
The back-to-back shooting incidents have raised concerns over security in the municipality. In response, police have heightened their presence in key areas and are conducting intensified operations to prevent further violence.
