PAHAMUDDIN, Cotabato Province — A male motorist was killed in a brazen daylight shooting after he was repeatedly fired upon by an unidentified assailant while riding his motorcycle in Barangay Balacayon, Pahamuddin, Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), on Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2026.

Police said the incident occurred at around 4:10 p.m. when the victim was driving a Honda RS125 single motorcycle bearing plate number 7689QN along a road in the barangay. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect suddenly approached the victim at close range and opened fire, hitting him multiple times in different parts of the body.

The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead on the spot.

After the attack, the suspect immediately fled the scene, prompting the Pahamuddin Municipal Police Station (MPS) to launch a hot pursuit operation. Police alert teams were deployed, and checkpoints were swiftly established at all entry and exit points of the municipality in an effort to intercept the fleeing gunman.

As of this writing, authorities have yet to establish the identities of both the victim and the suspect. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and eyewitness accounts to determine the motive behind the killing and the circumstances leading up to the attack.

Police assured the public that intensified patrols and manhunts are ongoing as part of efforts to ensure public safety and bring the perpetrator to justice.

Pahamuddin is a municipality under the Special Geographic Area of Cotabato Province, which is administratively part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
