TAMPARAN, Lanao del Sur — Police operatives in Tamparan arrested one individual and recovered a rented vehicle following a swift response to a reported rent-tangay scheme on January 20, 2026, in Barangay Balt Madiar, authorities said.

According to the Tamparan Municipal Police Station, the recovered vehicle—a red Toyota Vios bearing plate number ZAB 9598—was reported missing by its lawful owner, a businessman from Butuan City, after the renter failed to return the unit despite repeated demands.
Police said the owner was able to track the vehicle’s location using a tracking device installed in the car. Upon confirming that the unit was in Tamparan, the owner immediately sought police assistance. Responding officers moved quickly to the area, verified the report, and successfully recovered the vehicle.
The suspect was arrested during the operation and, along with the recovered car, is now under police custody for documentation and the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
PCOL Caezar P. Cabuhat, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office, commended the operatives for their prompt and coordinated action. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and responsible in rental transactions, warning that individuals involved in rent-tangay schemes will face the full force of the law.
Authorities continue to remind vehicle owners and rental businesses to install tracking devices and maintain clear documentation to deter similar crimes and aid rapid recovery efforts.
