The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division of the Philippine Army scored a major win in its campaign against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) after a joint operation uncovered a hidden arms cache in the rugged terrain of San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon on December 5, 2025.

Troops from the 1st Special Forces Battalion, 28th Infantry Battalion, and 4ID intelligence units—operating under the combined efforts of the 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade and 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade—successfully unearthed an underground CTG weapons stockpile. The cache contained two CZ 858 rifles, one M16A1 rifle, ten 7.62mm 30-round magazines, and one 5.56mm 30-round magazine.

Authorities attributed the breakthrough to timely and voluntary information provided by Hermie Cabusog Hilogon, alias Reboy/Baren, a former CTG member who recently surrendered to the 1st Special Forces Battalion. His cooperation, officials said, reflects the continuing erosion of CTG influence in the region as more former members abandon the armed struggle.

Brigadier General Seigfred Tubalado, Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, commended the troops for their discipline and the strong coordination between infantry and special operations units.

“This operation highlights the dedication, discipline, and professionalism of our troops. Every recovered firearm is a step closer to peace and a testament to our commitment to the safety and security of our communities. We will continue to pursue and neutralize threats while supporting those who choose the path of peace,” Tubalado said.

Meanwhile, 4ID Commander Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr. praised the involved units for their tactical proficiency and high morale. He stressed that each recovered firearm represents a life saved and pushes Northern Mindanao closer to lasting stability.

He reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to pursuing focused military operations while supporting reintegration efforts under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).

The recovery of the arms cache marks another blow to remaining CTG remnants in Bukidnon as security forces intensify operations to prevent regrouping and protect communities from insurgent threats.
