MBHTE Director General for Madaris, Prof. Tahir Guimil (Guiamel) Nalg, was wounded in a shooting incident at around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 27, along Esteros Street in Brgy. Rosary Heights 9/10, Cotabato City. The 65-year-old education official, a resident of Tamontaka 1, was attacked by an unidentified gunman who immediately fled after the shooting.
Responding units from Police Station 2, led by PCpt. Anuar Mambatao, arrived at the scene but the victim had already been rushed by residents to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) for emergency treatment. He remains under medical care as of this posting.
Cotabato City Police Office spokesperson PLt. Rochelle Evangelista confirmed the incident, stating that investigators are now determining the motive and identifying the suspect behind the attack.
BARMM Deputy Chief Minister MP Ali B. Solaiman strongly condemned the shooting, calling it “a violent act that has no place in the Bangsamoro.” He highlighted Prof. Nalg’s years of dedicated service to the Madaris education system, saying that harming an educator is “a grave offense against our community and our future.”
Solaiman urged law enforcement authorities to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice, while calling on the public to remain calm and cooperate fully. He also assured the MBHTE community, the victim, and his family of the Office’s support during this difficult time.
“May Allah grant healing to Prof. Nalg and protect our communities from violence,” Solaiman added.
