Davao City — Known for its vibrant culture, natural wonders, and welcoming atmosphere, Davao City has officially been named the Best City to Visit in the Philippines by the World Travel Index (WTI), scoring an impressive 75.48% in its latest report.
The annual WTI ranking evaluates cities worldwide based on four key factors: affordability, fun, safety, and overall worth. With its unique balance of budget-friendly travel, diverse experiences, and secure environment, Davao City outshined other popular destinations in the country.
Trailing behind Davao are Makati City (73.83), Puerto Princesa (73.57), Dumaguete (73.23), and Baguio (72.75). Completing the top 10 are Cebu City (72.55), Iloilo (70.39), Manila (68.43), Legazpi City (68.31), and Lapu-Lapu City (68.09).
WTI, a global platform that consolidates travel-related data from over 100 credible sources, evaluates nearly 3,000 cities around the world. Its assessment takes into account factors such as accommodation costs, dining affordability, quality of attractions, visitor safety, and overall travel satisfaction.
A City of Culture, Adventure, and Growth
Davao’s top ranking reflects not only its affordability but also its diverse tourism appeal. The city offers a variety of experiences—from nature and adventure to festivals and food. Tourists can explore Mount Apo, the country’s highest peak; visit the Philippine Eagle Center; and enjoy the city’s clean, well-kept parks and beaches.
Cultural celebrations remain a highlight of Davao’s charm. The Kadayawan Festival, Araw ng Dabaw, and Pasko Fiesta showcase the city’s rich heritage, Indigenous roots, and strong community spirit—turning local traditions into a vibrant draw for both domestic and international visitors.
Tourism on the Rise
The WTI recognition comes amid a significant surge in tourist arrivals. From 897,406 visitors in 2022, the number climbed to 1,296,928 in 2023, and reached nearly 1.82 million in 2024. This steady growth demonstrates Davao’s rising prominence as a premier travel destination in the Philippines.

With its mix of safety, affordability, and enjoyable experiences, Davao City sets a high standard for urban tourism in the Philippines. The latest WTI report cements its reputation not only as a city of opportunity and progress but also as a must-visit hub where culture, adventure, and modern living come together.
