Davao City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-station Matina Aplaya has received two rubber boats and search and rescue (SAR) equipment from the Aboitiz Foundation, further boosting its disaster response and maritime safety operations.



The donation was formally turned over during a blessing and turnover ceremony held at the Turtle Sanctuary in Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City. The event was spearheaded by the Aboitiz Foundation and Davao Light & Power Co., Inc., led by President and COO Enriczar T. Tia, Assistant Vice President for Distribution Finance Gedeon Gavan Jr., and Head of Marketing & Communications Fermin Edillon.
The ceremony was also graced by PCG officials including Commodore Philipps Y. Soria, Commander of Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao, and Commodore Rejard V. Marfe, Commander of Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao and Coast Guard District BARMM.
According to the Coast Guard, the new equipment will significantly enhance the unit’s capability to conduct search and rescue operations, particularly during floods and maritime incidents in Davao and nearby areas.
The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao and Coast Guard Station Davao expressed their gratitude to the Aboitiz Foundation and Davao Light & Power Co., Inc. for their continued support in ensuring community safety and maritime preparedness.
“This contribution strengthens our ability to protect lives and respond to emergencies at sea and in flood-prone areas,” the PCG said in a statement.
