SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao del Norte — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) destroyed an estimated ₱87.5 million worth of illegal drugs through thermal destruction on Monday, September 22, in Simuay, Sultan Kudarat.

The ceremony marked the 14th official Destruction of Dangerous Drugs in the region and was witnessed by top officials including BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, Maguindanao del Norte Vice Governor Datu Marshall Sinsuat, Police Regional Office–BAR Director PBGEN Jaysen De Guzman, Cotabato City Prosecutor Atty. According to PDEA-BARMM Regional Director Gil Cesario Castro, the 12,874 grams (12 kilos) of shabu burned represented the largest volume and value of illegal drugs destroyed in BARMM’s history.

“This destruction underscores our unyielding commitment to rid the region of illegal drugs and safeguard our communities,” Castro emphasized during the ceremony.

The destruction of the seized contraband was carried out to ensure transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the government’s anti-drug campaign. Officials stressed that the activity reflects the strong support of the BARMM leadership in combating the illegal drug trade.

PDEA-BARMM reaffirmed that its efforts will continue in coordination with local government units, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary to strengthen the fight against drugs in the region.
