ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Marine Battalion Landing Team-1 (MBLT-1) has successfully concluded its participation in the Western Mindanao Naval Command’s (WMNC) Mobilization Exercise (MOBEX) 2025, a rigorous week-long training designed to sharpen the readiness of Philippine Navy and Marine Corps reservists alongside regular forces in Western Mindanao.

Launched on September 8, the exercise spotlighted the critical role of reservists in national defense, particularly the 611th Naval Squadron Reserve and the 931st Marine Company Reserve, both based in Zamboanga City. With the support of the Naval Reserve Center Western Mindanao (NRCEN-WM), the reservists underwent intensive training shoulder-to-shoulder with MBLT-1’s Special Operations Platoon.

Over the course of the drills, participants executed 35 scenario-based exercise serials on Manalipa Island, simulating real-world challenges that tested joint integration, operational coordination, and rapid response. These scenarios culminated in a comprehensive evaluation phase, where teams’ performance and capability gaps were assessed to ensure mission-readiness when called upon.

The MOBEX 2025 also went beyond combat preparedness. Reservists, together with Philippine Army counterparts, spearheaded Civil-Military Operations from the Sea, including a community health engagement on Manalipa Island. The outreach underscored the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) dual commitment to safeguarding communities while fostering stronger ties with the people they serve.

Officials hailed the exercise as a milestone in strengthening the Navy and Marine Corps’ reserve component, noting that the integration of reservists and regular forces enhances the nation’s defense posture in Western Mindanao—a region critical to maritime security and stability.

Through MOBEX 2025, the AFP reaffirmed its resolve to maintain a robust, ready, and community-centered force capable of defending sovereignty and supporting Filipinos in times of need.
