Mawab and Monkayo, Davao de Oro – July 20, 2025 — In a continued crackdown on illegal drugs, the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XI, successfully apprehended two drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations in the municipalities of Mawab and Monkayo.

In Mawab, operatives from the Mawab Municipal Police Station arrested a 57-year-old male suspect known by the alias “Yanie” during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Nueva Visayas. The suspect, a resident of Barangay Libasan in Nabunturan, was caught after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer. Authorities recovered nine heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu, a marked Php 1,000 bill used in the transaction, two transparent plastic cellophanes, and a sling bag used to conceal the illegal items.

The operation was conducted with the assistance of PDEA Region XI and witnessed by officials from the Barangay Council and the Department of Justice. The suspect and the seized items are now in the custody of the Mawab Municipal Police Station, and charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Monkayo on the evening of July 19, a 25-year-old female resident of Barangay Poblacion was also arrested during a joint operation by PDEA Davao de Oro Provincial Office and the Monkayo Municipal Police Station. The buy-bust operation took place in Barangay Union, where law enforcement personnel seized several grams of suspected illegal drugs.

The suspect is currently detained while authorities process the necessary documentation for the filing of formal charges under RA 9165.

These back-to-back arrests highlight the ongoing commitment of the Davao de Oro Police and PDEA to intensify efforts against the proliferation of illegal drugs and uphold peace and order in the province.
